DIY - Air Conditioning and heating

Save up to 3/4's on your heating bills.!!!

Installing your own air conditioning is cheap and easy. On average it should take a couple of hours from drilling the first hole to having the unit fully operational.

NOT ONLY DO OUR UNITS COOL, THEY ALSO PROVIDE EXTREMELY EFFICIENT HEATING.

For instance a 9000 BTU unit will run on around 0.9Kw of electric when cooling or heating. While heating the heat produced is 3 to 4 times more than the energy put in to run the unit. For 900watts of electricity, the equivalent of 3KW heat is produced. This means you get three to four times more heat out than energy you put in.

If you have 4x 3Kw electric fires in your home or office, that's a total of 12Kw electricity when they are all on. If you replace your electric fires with 4x 9000 BTU Air Conditioning units then you will produce the same amount of heat and only use 4Kw.

It is true, using Air Conditioning for cooling is not an efficient use of power as you have probably heard in the press. As it is only hot around 5 weeks of the Summer before we are back to Winter. So on average there are more cold days than hot during a 12 month period meaning heating is needed more than cooling and you are actually using less energy, thus reducing the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere and your heating bills.

Conventional heating = 4x 3Kw electric fires = 12 Kw
Air Conditioning = 4x 0.9Kw = 3.6Kw power consumption giving the same amount of 12Kw heat from electric fires.

At 5.5p per Kw and using for heating for 7 hours a day the savings would be as follows:
Four 3Kw electric fires = £ 4.62 per day (£141 per month)
Four Air Conditioning systems = £ 1.39 (£43 per month)

A MASSIVE SAVING OF UP TO £ 98 per month on your heating bill.

Based on an electric price of 5.5 pence per Kw and using the heating for 4 hours a day, savings would be 60 pence per month compared to £ 1.98 for 4 electric fires, a saving of £1.28 per month.

Installation is easy,

most good DIY'ers will have no problem installing although the help of an electrician may be required for larger units as they need dedicated power supplies and cannot be plugged into a 13amp socket.

Briefly:

  1. Drill 75mm hole through wall.
  2. Mount indoor unit, feeding pipes through hole.
  3. Mount external bracket and external unit on wall.
  4. Connect copper tubing between indoor and outdoor units leaving one end open, install drain pipe.
  5. Connect interconnecting cables between units, then connect to mains power supply by 13 amp plug.
  6. Purge gas or draw vacuum*
  7. Seal and check all copper piping, open charge valve fully and test system operation

Nominal installation time 2hrs - Full instructions and support supplied with your unit.

* Although you can commission the unit by purging gas through the system before sealing we do recommend that a vacuum is placed on the system for 15 minutes prior to allowing gas into the system. You can purchase or hire pumps from us.

We can also arrange for an engineer to commission your system. There are two options for installation. 1) you fit the units to the wall then the engineer will connect the tubing and electrical connections 2) complete system engineer installation.
